Valentines Day Lingerie for Larger Women

February 14th is Valentines Day and there are three presents that are expected from men on these days: flowers (roses, red), chocolates (expensive, boxed) and lingerie (expensive, sexy). Lingerie shopping actually peaks not around Christmas but around Valentines Day, and the good news is that there's now plenty of attractive plus size lingerie available for the larger lady.

What type of plus size lingerie should you buy?
Choosing the item of lingerie you're going to buy can be a minefield for men. The first thing that affects the decision is how long you have been together, and whether you've bought her lingerie before.

If this is the first time, then you should aim to be more conservative in your purchases. Unless you know her underwear drawer consists of only thongs, then going straight for the skimpiest set you can find might be a little presumptuous. Settle instead for something more classic, such as a pair of opaque stockings. There are plenty of hold ups (thigh highs as they are called in the US), and also now you can get suspender stockings, which are one of the most popular items in the store we run. They are stockings with a built in garterbelt, making them more like tights (pantyhose), but keeping the allure of stockings.

Another good choice for the first time plus size lingerie purchaser is a babydoll. The babydoll is a negligee that tends to be more skimpy and often can be made from lace or mesh, so is see-through. As a type of lingerie, it's ideal for both those looking for something conservative or for something more adventurous, because there's such a range of babydolls. You can get ones that have opaque cups and lace skirts, ones made completely from satin, strapped backs, cupless - yes, the list goes on. So, you can generally find something that fits the level of raunchiness and spend you are looking for. Just make sure you get the right size, and that you check the material and the cut of the babydoll both back and front.

If you have been together longer, and you're ready to be more adventurous in buying lingerie, then corsets gave proved very popular recently. There are plenty of plus size corsets available, and you can also look at plus size basques, which are often considered the same as corsets, but the difference is technically that corsets lace up at the back, while basques fasten at the front or side, and often use hook and eye rather than lace.

You can also consider knickers (panties), but even though it is Valentines Day lingerie, don't just look at the thongs. There are plenty of different types of underwear, and some boy short styles are incredibly sexy, especially the ones that are lace up. Take a look at the options, before opting for the obvious choice and your lady will likely be much more impressed.

Buying Valentines Day Lingerie online

Plus size lingerie is not very well stocked by the high street stores, but there are plenty of online retailers who specialise in underwear for larger women. Google is your first stop here, but try and make sure of a few things before clicking the buy button.

1) Have you got the right size, and what is the store's policy on exchanges?

2) It's quite likely that you will want to buy the lingerie early so as to ensure you have it for her on the day, so make sure that your store has a Valentines Day returns policy. A good shop will extend the returns date beyond the compulsory or usual returns length, so that you can swap it if need be. (The normal terms will apply - such as that it must be unworn, obviously).

3) What is the delivery estimate? Ensure that the lingerie can be got to you in time, which is one reason to shop early. Stock levels often run low in the run up to Valentines Day, so purchasing early makes sense.

Buying plus size lingerie for Valentines Day is a great idea - it's a present that shows how attractive you find your partner, and you follow our simple advice, your purchase should be a great hit.
